Over the last few weeks I’ve been made my way through the HTML and CSS content at codecademy. I’ve learnt a fair bit and I’m going to try and apply it first to make a tumblr theme for myself. After that perhaps a better portfolio website.
Codecademy is great, it’s really helped me get my head round some basic web design. I’m looking forward to trying out the jQuery module shortly.

Whatever possessed me to draw big, wobbly chunky serifs on futura? Regardless there’s something about this I like.

Playing around with a logo for the climbing club- here’s a drastic solution for the horrific void between L and J of LJMU. Its both interesting and disappointing that it starts to read like an S.

I’ve just got back from a week long dispute with gravity in good company and an agreeable climate. Back to earth now.
The stuff I’ve been posting so far are sketches, experiments- stuff I’m trying to get back into the habit of producing regularly. I find it really helpful and it stops me getting stuck in a rut.
There is a bit of a love-hate relationship going on between me and this scribbly drawing style that I’ve fallen into. I think it would do me good to try something different.
I’m also pretty aware this blog is thus far very illustrative- I don’t know if I’m experiencing some fatigue from my second year specialism but at the moment I happen to be more drawn to image making than type and the like. Soon enough I will make a start on one or more of my summer project options, and there’ll be a bit more graphic design going on here.
Set up a blog for my research project. Need to start filling it with content now!
